The Family Book - Todd Parr is one of my absolute favorite authors because his books are sweet, simple and funny. In this book, you’ll meet all different kinds of families. Each is different but all are full of love.

Fred Stays With Me - dealing with divorce is not easy, but it’s a bit easier when you have a friend, like Fred the dog. I love the way that Fred is the little girl’s constant despite the many changes that have occurred in her life.

Standing On My Own Two Feet: A Child’s Affirmation of Love in the Midst of Divorce - this is a great book for young children, about ages 3+. It explains some of the basic details of divorce and also reminds readers that divorce is never their fault and that their parents will always love them.

My Yellow Balloon - is a beautiful and mindfully-created book about loss. When Joey goes to a carnival for the very first time, he meets a balloon man and is captivated by a yellow balloon. Joey and the balloon become inseparable friends. But what happens when the balloon accidentally flies away? Follow Joey as he navigates this heartbreaking loss. Families who are navigating grief, divorce, trauma or any kind of loss will find comfort in this gorgeous book. Be sure to check it out in both English and Spanish editions!

Luna Loves Library Day - Luna loves library day because it’s the day that she gets to see her dad. They spend the day getting lost in the adventures inside of many new books. I love the way this story sheds light on the many feelings that children experience while navigating divorce.

Here & There - This powerful book presents a glimpse inside of one family’s world as they make sense of their separate homes.

Florence and Her Fantastic Family Tree - When Florence has to draw her family tree for school she’s overwhelmed. She has parents, step-parents, siblings, and half-siblings and is afraid they won’t all fit on one piece of paper. I love the way Florence talks about the members of her family and places herself at the center of her family tree, surrounded by so much love.

Brand New Bubbe - This sweet book was full of surprises and I loved every single one! Jillian already has 2 grandmas she loves, but when she gets a stepdad, she also gets a brand-new bubbe. With a little patience, some delicious homemade food, and a lot of love, her new Bubbe helps Jillian find that there’s always room in her heart for more love.

Me and Ms. Too - For as long as Molly can remember it’s been just her and her dad. But when he gets re-married, life with Ms. Too is a big adjustment. She doesn’t play like Molly’s dad, and doesn’t seem to enjoy the llamas at the zoo, or cooking breakfast. But with a little love and lots of patience, they discover new ways to have fun and make new traditions. I love the gorgeous illustrations on each page and the gentle, hopeful honesty of the story.
